About Victor T Shea

Victor Thompkins Shea was a WWll veteran and member of the Nova Scotia North Novies Regiment. He lived his life true to their motto “No retreating Footsteps”. Victor is a recipient of France’s “Medal of Valor” for his bravery in a successful liberation of France. After the war, Victor’s path touched the lives of many during his 91 years. He was very involved in youth sports as a teacher and coach and coached many hockey teams over the years in the Bay area. Prior to the SMB arena, he spent many hours working on the pond in his backyard (aka Shea’s Pond) so the kids in the local community could play hockey. He was an active member in the development of an arena for the Tantallon area. Victor loved hockey and was always found supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren in all their sports and life endeavors. Bringing up a large family when times were hard, he gave generously to his family when he felt it was needed and sometimes just because. Many down on their luck were the recipients of his generosity and so it continues in death with his gift to support children to play the game he so loved.
