Please note: Respect in Sport offers 2 separate courses. One for Parents and another for Bench Staff/Volunteers. If you are a Parent AND a member of the Bench staff or a Volunteer, you must take both courses.
Respect in SPORT- Bench Staff Program only
If you are currently certified with the Speak Out certification, you are not required to take Respect in Sport in addition to Speak Out. Speak out and Respect in Sport are interchangeable.
Respect in Sport has partnered with Hockey Canada and is the online interactive 6 x 30 minutes certification program required for volunteer participation in minor hockey which is now also recognized by many other volunteer organizations as well. The program can be taken from the convenience of your home for a fee of $30 which can be completed online according to the volunteer's schedule (i.e. the course can be stopped and restarted as time is available). A certificate is produced after completion of the sixth module and HockeyNS is notified by the program. The cost of this program is the responsibility of the participant. Respect in Sport is an excellent and valuable learning tool.
This course is mandatory to have by Dec 31 for all volunteers at all levels - Regardless of position as coach, assistant coach, trainer or manager registered with any minor hockey team or association plus all on ice instructors as well.
Please ensure you have a Hockey Canada EHOCKEY ACCOUNT SET UP before completing the program. You can do so at the following link below. You can also check your account for confirmation if you have previously completed the course or Speak out.
