To all TASA Members:
I wanted to post a short note to update you on a few financial items that were decided at our recent Executive Meeting.
At the meeting the Executive approved a fee increase to members for registration. The amount details of the increase will be posted on the web site soon, along with the Registration details for the 2012/2013 season. Simply stated, the fee increase was needed because costs continue to rise. The largest increases that we have budgeted for are ice rentals, HNS Fees and jersey purchases - These are unavoidable and in total represent an approximate total expense increase of approximately $60,000 or $60 per player.
The good news is that we have put an additional focus on fundraising for the up coming year. This will result in a fee increase that will be less than the $60 noted above. We will communicate further details of our fundraising plans later in the summer as they are finalized.
Another item that was approved by the Executive was to hire a part-time paid position to work out of the TASA office at St. Margaret's Centre to provide much needed administrative support to the Volunteers that serve the TASA membership. The Executive believes this is critical to the future success of this organization as we strive to deliver the service that our members deserve, to meet the demands on the volunteer base as the administrative responsibilities continue to increase, and to help us achieve the goal of being the best Minor Hockey Association in NS. This position will be funded in part by expected cost savings through efficiencies and the remainder from the fundraising campaign we will have in the coming year. Further details on this position will be communicated when we post the position on the web site and request applications.
