“MMHL needs volunteers”
Please see below an email letter from Danny Vaughan the President of Metro Minor Hockey League. Metro Minor is in need of volunteers to help keep the league going.
Hello everyone,
I have been involved as an Association Rep and on the Executive of the MMHL since the 2002 – 2003 season. My wife and I will be moving to the Valley later this year so it is the time for me to step aside before the start of next season and hand things over to a new volunteer to continue the running of this very successful hockey league. I am proud to have worked with all the volunteers during this time to grow the league for the benefit of our recreational players. We must continue to give this group of players the opportunity to get some exercise, keep busy and out of trouble for a few hours a week by playing hockey in a safe and fun environment.
We struggle every year to get new volunteers to fill the MMHL positions of President, Executive Vice President, Treasurer and Vice Presidents for the Atom, Peewee, Bantam, Midget and Minor Junior Divisions along with our individual Association Representatives. Many of these positions have been held by the same folks for many years. Folks are needed to keep the league going for next season and beyond. We need volunteers who are committed to up hold the key tenants of the MMHL Mission Statement:
The Metro Minor Hockey League is committed to providing a positive hockey experience for players, coaches and parents, based on the principles of sportsmanship, skill development, equal ice time, and fair play.
The MMHL Executive Committee, in cooperation with participating Minor Hockey Associations, must ensure team balance, in order to provide a fair and competitive environment in which the players can participate. It is also essential that coaches and managers abide by the Hockey Nova Scotia Minor Council Code of Ethics, and display the highest standards of personal integrity, competence, sound judgement and direction.
Also it is of the utmost importance that all players, coaches and parents show respect for the officials. Please remember, without the officials, games cannot be played.
If you or anyone you know has good organizational, administrative and communications skills and is interested in helping to keep this league going into the future please contact the following (danny.vaughan@ns.sympatico.ca or mmhl@eastlink.ca ).
Please forward this information to all your coaches/managers and ask them in turn to send it to the parents of the players on the MMHL teams. I know there are folks out there that have the skills needed and they will find volunteering for the MMHL to be quite fulfilling.
Respectfully,
Danny Vaughan
President - MMHL
